Last week, I found a stray kitten (about 3 months old), with an old festering wound on her arm. We took her in, had the vet stitch her up, and the wound seems to be fine.
However, since then, she has had horrible diarrhea, she is emaciated and will not eat.
We have taken her to the vet 4 times so far, she has been wormed, and given anti-diarrheal medicine. She passed some dead worms, which makes me think worms are gone. But she still has diarrhea, and is very sluggish. Last night she passed something black, which may have been blood.
I have been force feeding her through a syringe (kitten chow, blended with water into a liquid).
Also, I live in South Korea, which doesn't have many options as far as cat food goes. I consider myself lucky that I was able to find some dry kitten chow.
I'm so worried about this poor baby. The vet doesn't seem to be much help. Can anyone offer me any suggestions?

Re: Very worried, please help.
Sun, July 6, 2008 - 10:53 PMYou need to keep her hydrated--either by massive syringe watering or by a drip (you will need to get the sterile water and needles from a vet which might be hard to find where you are). You can easily google how to do it though.
Also see this thread for explanations on it and other useful advice. Unfortunately your kitten may have a disease or a birth defect. Be prepared to let her go while giving as much love and comfort as you can. -

Re: Very worried, please help.
Mon, July 7, 2008 - 9:20 PMThank you so much for the advice, and the thread. I've been doing the massive syringe watering since yesterday afternoon, and she woke up this morning looking kind of perky. She stood up and followed me out to the kitchen. That is a big improvement. She has not had a bout of diarrhea in almost 24 hours. (Knocking on wood).
I think it helps that she is a little bit older than the kitten in the other post. I'm just going to keep with the water and the food, and hopefully she'll pull through.
Thanks again. -
